Fred Perry was a tennis super-champion who won three consecutive Wimbledon Championships as well as eight Grand Slams. He was approached in 1942 by Tibby Wegner, and Australian footballer who had invented the forerunner of the sweat head band. This was for a Fred Perry line tennis shirt similar to Lacoste’s. It was an immediate hit.
The brand is now owned by a Japanese corporation. In men’s tennis shoes the company offers the original Fred Perry tennis shoe, the Spencer which was inspired by his many wins, the Underspin which has simple lines of 1980’s sportswear, and the Kingston and several additional styles of tennis shoes
